With the gold masked figure and dripping empty-eyed face in "Queen of the Fluids; the eerily floating head in "Interiosity", and the puppet constructs in videos such as "She" and "The Inn of Floating Imagery" - I am constantly creating a pictorial female art persona, often with inspiration from the supernatural figures portrayed in Japanese theater and art.
My work has evolved from early drawn animated films, and pioneering performances combining dance with film in the 1980-90’s, (Performance excerpts below) to my current surreal performance spectacles and videos, with influence from symbolist art and the Japanese Noh theater. Sheer curiosity leads me to constantly explore personae and imagery in different media.
